LUCAS SETS NFL EUROPE RECORD WITH FOUR TD CATCHES Green Bay Packers wide receiver Chad Lucas set an NFL Europe record with four touchdown catches, leading the Amsterdam Admirals to a 38-31 win over the Berlin Thunder on Saturday in Berlin. Lucas caught a 50-yard TD pass from Gibran Hamdan midway through the third quarter to set the record and give the Admirals a 35-21 lead. He finished with 120 yards on six catches, with TD scores of 10, 5 and 19 yards.Lucas spent time in 2005 with San Jose of the Arena League. He is the fourth NFL Europe player to score four times in a game. The other three were running backs.
Packers tight end Tory Humphrey caught two passes for 22 yards, and wide receiver Vince Butler played but didn’t catch a pass for the Admirals. For Berlin, Packers quarterback Brian Wrobel was 5-for-12 passing for 47 yards and a touchdown in a relief role. He also had four runs for 24 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown. Packers guard Pete Traynor and cornerback Therrian Fontenot started for the Rhein Fire in a 31-21 victory over Hamburg. Carolina Panthers wide receiver Chris Samp, a Green Bay Preble graduate, caught two passes for 11 yards for the Fire.
