I Feel a Draft Up in Herre
1) Reggie Bush (RB - USC) Absolutely the best running back I've seen since Gayle Sayers. He has Barry Sander's moves and Ahman Green's speed. He didn't show much at the National Championship game but from the time I saw him... he was unstoppable (Fresno State for example... 23 carries for 294 yards and 2 TD's)
2) Matt Leinart (QB - USC) Well you can't argue with his record... 2 National Championships... Heisman Trophy... 6'5"... friends with Nick "Didn't you used to Mr. Jessica Simpson" Lachey... and a pin point passer. Downside... he's a left and that's gunna screw with my mad playstation skills as I totally suck with left handed QB's.
3) Mario Williams (Freak - NC State) Okay is you saw what he did at the combine... then I don't need to add anything else. Basically... he's 6'7"... 293 pounds and runs the 40 in the 4.6's. Wait... that had to be a typo... did I just type 4.6's??? Yup! Yup! He's a Freak of Nature! He has said in the past that he'd love to play in Green Bay. Let me repeat that also... for the Javan Walker's out there...
He Love Him Some Packers Dawg!
4) D'Brickashaw Ferguson (Freak Part Deux - Virginia) Oh he's a D'Brickashaw.... Hooooooowze... He mighty mighty... just blockin' it all day long. Anywho... 6'6"... 312 lb'essss and he's still growing. They say he has a rather large wingspan... duh! He can block just about anything and that includes sun light.
5) A. J. Hawk (LB THE... Ohio State) What's not to like about AJ... nudding! He's where the ball is on like every play. He made 23 tackles in one game. He's fast... good in coverage... great tackler... and has long hair. (I just threw in that long hair crap 'cause it shows he's a bad ass). And look at that mug... that's a face even his mom can't stand to look at!
Okay so those are the Blue Chippers... now let's take a look at the draft order and the teams that will be picking.
1) Houston
Needs: Everything except QB (Just signed Carr to a long termie) or RB (they've got their speed back in Dominick Davis... 2 backs... one ball... bad ju ju)
2) New Orleans
Needs: Everything except QB (Just signed Drew Brees)
3) Tennessee
Needs: Everything. Especially Franchise QB to replace McNair.
4) NY Jets
Needs: Everything. Recently traded for QB Patrick Ramsey and traded away star DE Abraham. I'm thinking they may still go QB here.
5) God's Team
Needs: Everything Except QB (Favre will be back and hopefully Rodgers is the Future)
So how do I see this bad boy shaking out???
1) Reggie Bush
(Houston or... Houston trades pick to someone that simply MUST have Reggie Bush. I don't see it happening and if you need a QB then you just trade for the 2nd pick) I say Houston.
2) Matt Leinart
(New Orleans trades pick to either Jets or somebody else offers a spectacular deal that the Saints can't refuse) I say Jets... Saints want to move down to get Mario Williams and if they go lower than Number 4 they risk losing him to the Pack.
3) Vince Young
(Tennessee. Yes I know this is a streatch and everybody except Mel "Who's Mel Kiper" Kiper is major down on him right now. But I think the Titans are going to roll the dice... plus he's major buds with McNair. They'd trade down if they could but nobody is likely to move up for a QB when there's a possy that Young and Cutler may still be available later) I say Titans... unless ??? (Just wait)
4) Mario Williams
(New Orleans after trade with Jets. This makes the most sense and nearly everybody is expecting it. Soooo... what the heck... I'll go with the flow for now) I say Saints
5) A. J. Hawk
Pack has their choice of Hawk or Ferguson or moving down in the draft for possibly DT Ngata... S/CB Huff... or LB Greenway. Basically I see the Pack going D-E-F-E-N-S-E so... forget Fergie. If somebody in the Top 10 Needs Ferguson thaaaaat bad... I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pack trade down...
Or.....
Check this... the Saints want Mario Williams big time... they are sure that they can still get him with the Number 4 (Jets) pick... lets say they trade down with the Jets like I predicted... what's to stop the Pack and Titans to pull the ole' switcherino and trade spots. Now it's going to cost the Packers some bonus picks (according to the Draft Value Chart -- see below -- probably a number 2 or possibly 2 number 3's) Now... with that pick (Number 3 over all) the Packers select Mario Williams. But here's the deal... I don't think the Pack will be stupid enough to trade away draft picks to get Williams when they can sit where they are and get a Franchiser in Hawk. I just wanted to throw that out there.
In the second round... I'm hoping the Packers can get a Big Stud Guard that can start right away... Possibly Max Jean-Giles of Georgia... Daryn Colledge of Boise State... Deuce Luitu of USC... or Davin Joseph of Oklahoma. (Note: Pack could probably trade down in the second and get any of those Dudes)
And now... simply for my distraction... the Jimmy Johnson Draft Pick Value Chart for determining draft pick trades.
