Two days ago I made this statement...

"I'll say this... if triple T cuts his butt instead of 'Shermaning' Boerighter... then he has my respect!"

Well behold and low... Triple T done did it!

Ted Thompson has my respect...
For not pulling a sherman with Marc Boerighter... stepping up to the plate and admitting your error early on. We've had enough Joe Johnson's here.

For recognizing a mistake (BJ Sander)... not blaming anyone for it... and doing the right thing... kudos' for being the 'grown up'!

"We felt like it was fair for, in B.J. Sander's case, to release him because it gives him a chance if someone else is looking for another punter to maybe go latch on there," Thompson said Tuesday. "He's done fine here and worked and done everything we asked."

For the way he handled the Favre Retirement flip flop. With all the crap that went on with Brett over the off season... there were times I just wanted Brett to go away myself. I can't even imagine what hell Ted's life must have been having to prepare a strategy and a roster when your franchise... all world... Canton first vote quarterback is playing the theme song to The Clash's best known song. (Should I stay or should I go? -- duh)

Let's face it... Triple T was in a no win sitchy. He's got a rookie QB backup with no experience in the wings. And as to Brett... if Thompson... cuts him / waives him / trades him... it's like telling George Washington we're going in a new direction with that Mt. Rushmore thingy... and we have a different George W in mind.

For the way he handled the 'We Hate Ted Thompson' web sites that went up this past year...

I will admit I frequented and commented upon those sites myself... Bite me! Let he who is without Jamaal Reynolds cast the first stone! (Or something like that)

Now it would be nice to pretend that Ted is oblivious to such mundane matters. And... possibly he is??? But I've been to Green Bay... it aint exactly Vegas and what happens along the Fox River... well... it tends to get around!

For playing human pin cushion and taking all those darts and arrows tossed his way over the hiring of M&M. Now the verdict is still out on this one but he showed me the intestinal fortitude and proper scrotum for picking his guy and damn the criticism.

Not even the great Wolfman (Hallowed be his name) always hit it out of the park when it came to the front office... Ray Rhodes??? Sherm as GM??? And if it were up to me I'd have offered the Falcons a 3rd rounder for Favre!
