Rodgers preparing to assume control

"I'm not Brett Favre. If (fans) want me to be the next Brett Favre, I'm not going to be him. I'm Aaron Rodgers. That's who I am. I'm going to be the best quarterback I can be and he did it his way and I'm going to do it my way, and hopefully I can be successful."
Green Bay - If you'd never known or cared about Aaron Rodgers before Brett Favre's retirement last week and you studied him for the first time on Saturday, the impression he gave was that of a young, laid back Californian unfazed by the onslaught of hype that is about to hit him. In his first press conference Saturday in Green Bay as the Packers starting quarterback, Rodgers said he was on the beaches and golf courses a week ago, figuring he would be back for a fourth-straight year as Favre's backup and not at all concerned over what another stalled year would do to his career. When he found out he was finally getting his shot? "I was excited," said Rodgers. "But to be honest, it was just another day. I had plans to play golf and see my buddy in L.A. and that's pretty much what I did." [More]
