News/Notes 9-9-2007
I'm going about 'capsulizing' the Packer news in a new way today... more bloggish and less cut and pasty. Let me know what ya think?
Today in the Press Gazette they are running their obligatory 'Keys to today's game' [Here] where they have raised the 'duh' factor to a new height with their 3 main Keys.
Make Eagles' risk outweigh reward (true dat)
Contain versatile Westbrook (double true)
Driver's health (check... that would help)
They also have their staff predict the outcome of todays' game [Here] 'Press-Gazette staff predicts today's outcome' I don't want to give too much away but how bad is it when your hometown writers see you loosing by 3-1. Ouch!
Over at the ole' MJS they also have a niffty game preview [Here] which is basic standard stuff. There are two pretty good articles on TT and MM. The first on Thompson [Here] revealed something I never knew before... here's the 'money quote'.
"I read a verse in Matthew, about - and I will paraphrase - 'Don't worry about what you're going to eat. Don't worry about what you're going to wear. Set your mind on the kingdom of God, and all the rest of these things will be OK' . . . And right there, I just said, 'OK, I am not going to worry about that anymore."
Whoa... who saw that coming... the Prince of Darkness reads the Bible!
The McCarthy article [Here] 'McCarthy aims for a fast start' is a little more basic M&M being M&M with the best paragraph going...
Despite McCarthy's desire to start fast, the 2006 Packers got off to a 1-4 start, losing a pair of games at home they easily could have won and putting themselves in such a hole that not even a 4-0 finish could pull them past even. The Packers managed an 8-8 record, one victory away from securing a wild-card berth.
Madison.com is also running a McCarthy piece by Jason Wilde [Here] 'McCarthy expects the best' which is mostly a Q&A but written in that JW sorta folksy way. McM does a little prognosticating of his own and he predicts... 'SUPER BOWL'... I'll be happy with 9-7 and... 'PLAYOFFS'
"We're going to win the world championship here in Green Bay again. That's the view, that's the vision. We've made progress towards that goal, and we need to continue to have those small successes as we build toward that goal, and that's the way I view it."
