Cornerback, Franks unable to practice

Green Bay - Most guys head for home after a return flight from a road game but not Green Bay Packers cornerback Al Harris. He heads for the chiropractor. At least that's what he did two weeks ago after the Packers flew back from a game against the New York Giants. Harris has been suffering back spasms dating to training camp and has been struggling to overcome them. "I could barely walk after that game," Harris said. "I went straight to the chiropractor." Harris hasn't missed a game in the nine-plus years he has been in the NFL and there's no question the 32-year-old right cornerback is going to have fight through some pain to keep the streak going. Harris sat out practice Wednesday and for the second consecutive week might have to limit his practice activity to Friday only so he can give his back a break. More >>
Morency's true test comes Thursday
By Jason Wilde / madison.com
GREEN BAY — This may be the week Vernand Morency is ready to return to active duty, but there might not be room for the Green Bay Packers' would-be starting halfback on the 45-man gameday roster Sunday at Minnesota. Morency went through practice Wednesday and looked "very good" to coach Mike McCarthy. Today will be the true test for Morency, who has had soreness in his right knee each of the previous two Thursdays and was deactivated for the game that followed. "'Mo' looked good. I'm hopeful that we're past where we've been the last couple of weeks," McCarthy said. "We got him in the rotation. He took his share of reps. We'll see how he feels in the morning and see how we can move forward." More >>
Stats Aside, Kampman's Impact Steady

In 2006, defensive end Aaron Kampman gave himself one heck of a standard to live up to in 2007. But even though he's well off the pace to repeat his career-high 15 1/2 sacks from a year ago, Kampman isn't bothered by it. "If I wasn't getting to the quarterback, I'd be like, 'C'mon,' then it's frustrating," he said. "But I've been getting to the quarterback, been hitting them. It's more about making sure you're getting pressure on the quarterback, getting hits, making sure you win the down. That's really what's important." Kampman had only one sack through the first three games, when he knocked the ball loose from New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning in Week 2. But he now has 1 1/2 after an Elias Sports Bureau film review determined he shared a sack with Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila last Sunday against San Diego when 'KGB' forced a Philip Rivers fumble. And he'd have another one if Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb hadn't managed to scramble just beyond the line of scrimmage when Kampman got him from behind in Week 1. McNabb was credited with a rush of 1 yard. More >>

Green Bay - In most NFL cities, every movement of the team's first-round pick is discussed and scrutinized. But with the Green Bay Packers off to a 3-0 start, the fact that defensive tackle Justin Harrell has yet to suit up for a game has barely been noticed. That is, by everyone but Harrell. "It's very disappointing," said Harrell, the 16th overall pick out of the University of Tennessee. "I feel like a freshman in college." More >>
