Favre's injury not considered serious

Brett Favre was held out of the Green Bay Packers' practices Wednesday and Thursday because of a sore right shoulder. "I probably could practice, but it really don't make a lot of sense to go out and make it any worse," Favre said. "I think it's probably just tendinitis or something like that." Coach Mike McCarthy said the medical staff doesn't consider the injury serious. Favre, however, won't be on the field next Monday and Tuesday, when the Packers conclude their workouts. More
Freeman to retire as a Packer

The Green Bay Packers signed former receiver Antonio Freeman to an NFL contract, a source with knowledge of the signing confirmed Friday morning. The Packers and Freeman agreed to the deal so he can retire from the NFL officially as a Packer. More
Packers' Miree tops field of fullback hopefuls

At the Packers' practice Thursday, third-year pro Brandon Miree remained the top prospect. He practiced with the first team offense, as usual. But there are rookies - Korey Hall, who is converting from linebacker to fullback, and Ryan Powdrell - rotating in the second- and third-string offense. Free-agent pickup Corey White is in the mix as well. Though he is the one who unseated Henderson last year, Miree does not have the job just yet. Instead, the fullback position - like running back, safety, kicker and tight end - could have interesting twists and turns in Green Bay before a starter emerges by the end of training camp in 2½ months. Packers Release RB Arliss Beach

The Green Bay Packers Friday released running back Arliss Beach. Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson made the announcement. Beach spent last season on injured reserve after signing with the team as a non-drafted free agent on May 5, 2006 Link
