Saints should thank Packers for Season Success
Packer Pundit / Patrick Stuckey
Last night during the Saints / Eagles plaoff game, Fox ran an interesting stat. New Orleans was 5-0 when leading after the 1st quarter this past season. Since the Saints went 12-4, logically one can assume that in 7 of those wins, the Saints were either losing after the 1st, or tied.
This reminded me of how the Packers let the Saints off the hook in week 2. After going up 13-0 , mostly on the stellar play of All-Pro Aaron Kampman, the Packers could not close the game out and actually were losing before half. Final Score 34-27. How different would last years final standings have looked without a Packer meltdown?
Oh... and for the record.
Two weeks later we took a 9-7 lead into halftime against the Eagles and blew that game as well. I guess that's why Philly and New orleans played last night... and we watched.
Inglis gets shot with Green Bay
By JONATHAN HUNTINGTON / EDMONTON SUN
Taylor Inglis is stunned. Completely out of the blue, the Edmonton Eskimos' long snapper is suddenly staring at a chance to join the Green Bay Packers. The 23-year-old Edmonton native will be flown to Green Bay Tuesday for a Wednesday tryout . "It caught me off guard and I'm pretty humbled by it," said Inglis, who's able to take the tryout offer because he's entering the option year of his CFL contract. "I didn't send them any film, but they said they had seen some film. "It's pretty exciting." It's also another head-shaking chapter in Inglis's football career. After cracking the Green and Gold roster from the Edmonton Wildcats in 2005, he promptly walked away from the Esks this summer after refusing to take a practice roster spot when he lost his starting job. That public spat was quickly resolved, with Inglis rejoining the club. Making just $40,000 with Edmonton, he would earn almost $240,000 US with an NFL minimum. "I'm nervous," he said. "And I'm not expecting a whole lot. But I have nothing to lose and everything to gain." -- Story
